Holidays have always been a great way to enjoy time with your family, and to my family, Easter has always been really special. Yes, the religious component is extremely important and I want my boys to recognize the sacrifice of Christ but, as Christians, we practice faith and gratitude in my home every day. Easter is a once a year celebration and I love everything about Easter, from going to church to Easter baskets to Easter hunts, and a big Easter brunch /pool party. I enjoy my home filled with family and friends and the sounds that children make that is like candy to my ears…like life is really being lived.
This year, I have decided to really focus on having a simple Easter rather than making it a crazy day where I spend all day prepping and preparing! My kids are growing up so fast and I want to really enjoy the time with family and focus on simple ways to celebrate Easter together. These are the days that create lifelong memories.
So how do you simplify Easter, but yet still make it special? Here are a few suggestions to make life a tad easier:
Easter Baskets:

Have you always done over the top Easter Baskets like me? I tend to fill the baskets to the brim with new swimsuits, toys, pool /beach supplies, and all the favorite candy on earth!
Well, this year, I decided that less is more. I picked one item each child would like whether it is a new game or a new basketball and I ordered them online so I didn’t have to fight the crowds at the store. I also picked up a few small bags of candy, of course the chocolate bunny, for my baskets while at the grocery store.
Easter Egg Hunt:
We are a huge fan of our annual Easter egg hunt, as is all of our family and friends. I used to spend HOURS shopping for treats and trinkets, not to mention the time it took to fill all of those eggs! This year, for my sanity, I’m just doing a family egg hunt. I’m filling some eggs with candy and some with dollar bills and my boys will be thrilled! I derive so much pleasure out of watching my boys hunt for the eggs.

Easter Dinner:
If you are like me, you love to have a huge delicious spread for Easter dinner! This delicious spread is exhausting and takes hours and hours of prep and cooking. But this year, I’m simplifying Easter dinner prep, with the intention of having the most amazing Easter meal available!
Many restaurants, grocery stores, Honey Baked Ham Company, etc. offer really delicious prepared meals. Thank you Jesus for the the ease of online ordering! Many choices are available such as filet, ham, turkey and other delicious meats as well as their wonderful selections of pre-made sides. I love the fact that I can order online and have it delivered right to my door on the day I pick (pending availability). The ability to order online helps me make Easter dinner a success and takes the hustle and bustle out of running around from store to store to find ingredients and proteins to cook. This allows me more time to spend with my family on Easter morning.
Umm..Dessert ,Of Course:
I’m a scratch baker so I’m certainly not easily to please when it comes to dessert. However, I have tried some really delicious pre-made desserts from my local Ham company and bakery. I sampled the Tuxedo Mousse Cake and the Lemon Cream Cake and they were amazing! It saves so much time on Easter by ordering it with our Ham and Turkey that I might possibly never go back to making Easter Dessert again!

Let The Games Continue:
Kids love playing games. Once you start your kids keep expecting them year after year. If you aren’t already playing games during your family’s Easter celebrations you can start now!
You don’t have to plan extreme or complex games your children just want to play and most importantly play with you.
Mark off some lanes and pass out spoons and one egg per person. Then have each family member race to the finish line! They have to move the egg with their spoon down their own lane on the grass as fast as they can go. They can’t use anything but that spoon to get the egg down their lane. The first one to the end wins! There are so many additional Easter games and options on Amazon.
Slow down, don’t sweat the small stuff. Wishing you and your family the best Easter ever!!
